I’ve been getting more questions about teaching abroad recently… I’m guessing the quarantine, lockdowns and everyone losing their jobs had something to do with people reevaluating their lives.
If you know me, or have been following this blog for awhile now… I am a very “life is short!”, “live it to the fullest” type of person.
So, my short answer is YES.
Longer answer… if you’re not married, don’t have any children, don’t have a steady career… basically have nothing holding you down… then my answer is ABSOLUTELY! WHY THE HELL HAVEN’T YOU GONE YET?!
Moving abroad was the best thing that I have ever done for myself. Is it scary? Hell yes. Did I have any idea what I was doing? NOPE. But, I figured it out and I loved every single challenge that came my way. I had never even been to Thailand before I had decided to move there…🤣
I was taken out of my comfort zone on so many levels. But it taught me to adapt, be stronger and most importantly, believe in myself. If you had asked me just a few years before if I would ever move to a different country by myself? I would’ve said no way and that you were crazy. But I did it and I’m so happy I did…
I met so many amazing people from all over the world. I made life long friends that I’ve continued to keep in touch with.
Moving abroad changed me in so many ways. I’m so glad that I literally said “fuck it” and went.
If you’re thinking about it too… just do it. I promise you that one day in the future… you’d never say “I wish I hadn’t gone” … but you will definitely say “I wish I had”. Regret is a bitch. Don’t have any. My only regret?… that I hadn’t gone sooner.
I’ll leave you with one of my favorite quotes…
“You’ll regret more so the things you didn’t do than the things you did do.”
Be brave, go L I V E.
